One Week Post Op - Tonsils, Adenoids and Tubes
A week ago Mallie had her surgery - everything went as expected as far as the surgery. No more Tonsils, Tubes were in and Most of her Adenoids went bye bye. They left some towards the bottom so it would not affect her speech due to the shape of her mouth. He mentioned this in our pre-visits that it may have to be that way. So no surprise there. I was so proud of how she handled getting put to sleep. Just like a champ - never cried. I was able to go back with her and I have to say this was so much better than our experience at Mary Free Bed for the tubes last year. They brought in her own mask before the surgery, she got to pick out a flavored chap stick - that they used to line the inside of the mask to make it smell yummy. Then she got to keep the chap stick. She picked out strawberry! The only thing that was a minor set back was they could not get the breathing tube in for surgery - apparently she is a challenge. So now they want us to get a bracelet for her that says she is a difficult one to incubate. She has had numerous surgeries before and they never mentioned this - so I don't know what is different - but hopefully that was the last surgery EVER!! Here are some pics from the big day.
We came home the very next day, the night in the hospital was pretty laid back. We were still all tired and apparently CRABBY. Mallie's world came to an end when the Kindle died by Pentwater and the Fresh Beats disappeared! We could not get home fast enough. I was expecting things to be so much worse and she has surprised me thru this whole thing. I was so scared she would not drink enough and or eat enough. She did great, a little crabby moments here and there but that is ok. her throat has to be killing her right? we have just been using tylenol for pain and so far that has done the trick. We don't go back to see Doc until may 1st. Tomorrow she goes back to daycare - and back to normal schedule. I also got a letter saying her walker was approved so that should show up any day now. Well off to get little one ready for bed! Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts during her recovery!!
