been a bit

I know I am still sucking at this whole posting thing....or lack there of. Mallie is doing great with her new ears. Everytime we go to the audiologist things look better and better for her. We were there this week and they gave us 3 more programs to add that we can keep bumping her up to. The mapping of these things is still complicated to me but we are learning. Mallie has a walker now that i got used at ABC kids!! Yeah! This past sunday (my birthday) She started to push herself backwards in it, YAY!!! We are still trying to get her to put weight on her legs - she kinda refuses it all together any other time. I am hoping this will get her in the right direction. As for the ears she is babbling more and she turns when you call her name - I LOVE THAT!!! Also she does not cry when we put them on her - when they get bumped or fall off - she acts like she wants them back on - double YAY!!! Everyday she is getting stronger and learning more and more. I wanted to post a little blurb tonite and hopefully this week I will be able to write more :)

Patience.

Tomorrow will be two weeks since activation!!! Crazy how time flies - we had a busy weekend last weekend - went to see my little sis and family for my Nephew Konnor's 4th Birthday. I drove the whole thing by myself with Mallie - I was expecting the worst. Actually she did really well. I planned it so she would sleep most of the way - its over 3 hours to drive there. On the way down she never really made a peep and when we arrived she was in the back seat smiling (no shoes or socks on). It was colder than I thought it was gonna be so that was a bummer. It got up to about 50ish....but it was a good time and good visit. I always hate saying goodbye - damn it family should not be allowed to move more than 2 hours away. No major changes yet with Mallie and her ears. she does respond to sounds but its not consistant - as they say it will take some time for her to get used and understand what she hears. In the sound booth at the audiologists last week her response put her in the mild hearing loss category! Which is amazing and its only supposed to get better. She keeps them on (thank god for the headbands I found). Except yesterday she started to rip the headband off - laughing each time she did it.......I think she heard "NO" for the first time yesterday and quite frequently...as she started this at daycare and even after getting home she was doing it. The whole time it was a game to her - not that her ears bothered her. It was funny!!! So today , well tonite I bumped her up to 3 on her programs but she is as half volume and she did not seem to mind it much. Blinking more than usual at sounds but not really bothered. So will see how tomorrow works out - may have to start her at 2 and later in the day give her 3 for awhile and gradually work on keeping it there and increasing the volume. Friday we go see the surgeon for the 6 week follow up - then its not until the end of may we go see the audiologist again. She is still getting PT on mondays and now speech on mondays and thurs. still debating on whether I need to take her to manistee speech or not since we already have two days a week lined up. Well thats all for now - time for this mommy to get some sleep.
