The little things

So Mallie is doing great! She is becoming quite the tester of patience these days as well....learning how to push buttons. She has never had us yell or tell her no up until recently. She has had her implants now for about 3 months and never ever messed with them. Well lately she has been pulling them off (just to fire us up) she will even shake her little finger at me when I tell her NO! I love it even though I don't. she is learning so much now that she can hear. She knows what words mean and that is amazing!! Also on her physical strength - since getting her the little NIKES - she will now bear weight on her little legs for a few seconds. without them on she don't like her feet touching stuff. for the past week we have been working on standing while I hold her and I have noticed a huge improvement on her over all body strength. She also grew 2 inches since March!! That is a ton for her - she now is 26.25 inches long and was 13lbs 5 ounces. Her weight to height ratio is really not that bad. As we all know she is little and will always be, but by no means is she malnourished. She is doing very well with eating...drinking not so much. Its hit and miss. She still does her bottle in the morning and one at night. I am trying juice in the daytime and sometimes she really drinks it up and other times not so much. Also still trying sippee cups - right now she does drink juice from her bottle. We go back to the audiologist this week and the developmental pediatrician is some time in July. So we are busy busy here - working in the yard and summer in general. I am so thankful to have a less stressful life this summer with our little Mallie girl. We are finally on the right track to normalcy - haha whatever that is :) Happy Fathers Day to all the great dads out there!!!

June already!

Once again I am slacking on the posting....Mallie Mommy is sorry but we are just so busy enjoying everyday with you :)

Lots to update on - Mallie is really starting to understand speech! Every week its getting more and more apparent. Her personality is really shining thru so much more now that she has another outlet of communication. She is not really sounding more sounds or anything but I know she understands things! she is mostly making AHHHH sounds and MMMMMM sounds. But its more than before. When I say her name she will turn around to look at me. Ham - that is her! She loves attention and smiling and making people smile. God love her for that. When ever I come home to her smile - my day is better already.

She is still having speech twice a week and PT once a week. Then this week OT came and they will see her every other week. She is a busy girl - between that and her audiologist and other misc doctor appts. We have lots to do!

She has her first real ear infection as of last week, the poor girl! So we have 10 days of antibiotics - which I can tell its much better because she is not drowning in her bottle now.

I got her some new nike's from ebay and they are perfect! hard to find size one shoes that are not made just for looks. in the nikes she will actually bear a little weight on her legs. not too much but noticeably more than before. I hope this helps her to strengthen those little legs up! I am so ready for her to be mobile - I KNOW PEOPLE THINK I AM CRAZY! But you know what - we are so done with the baby things - lets move on to toddler hood. She is mostly there with her actions and all but the physical stuff is lacking. Believe me too it is nice to have her stay in one spot - I can get a lot of stuff done -but I am ready for that milestone -so bring it on :) I remember thinking she would never hold her head up - but she did -so I know this is around the corner - but hopefully not too far around!

We had our first camping trip memorial weekend - pics to come soon! Man before her I thought we packed alot for just Steve and I, but holy cow did we have a lot for Mallie. The camper was full! The weather was not the greatest but it was a nice little getaway - we went to Mesick.

Ok well I think I have rambled on alot tonite - so I am off for awhile and hopefully next week I will be back with more exciting ear news :)
