Big Things are happening

In the last few weeks I am just more and more amazed at Mallie's progress. I don't know if its all coincidental or what but I LOVE IT!! We had the Tonsil/Adniod surgery - made it thru that phew!! She seems to sleep so much better and no more crabby mornings. Well almost...haha she is a toddler. We have noticed such a huge difference tho. We had another Audiologist appt to check things out and a few more tweaks to help her hear some lower tones she was not quite responding too. Then we found out the two electrodes that quit working months ago are working now!! Since the Audiologist appt a couple weeks ago, whatever they did I think had helped her tremendously. she is talking more and more clear every day - when she wants too. She still tends to trail off or mumble when she is unsure or around new people. We have received the walker at home and have been working with her on using it. Its a challenge in our small space but I am treating it like a tool more than a way for her to get from A to B. She is so not going to need it in the very near future. She took some steps on her own a couple weeks ago too. This was without the braces and just her shoes. You can still see without the braces she has some obvious ankle pro-nation still making it more of a challenge for her. I wanted from the beginning when we got the AFO's (leg braces) to get just some ankle support for her. I knew I was right again, tends to happen alot since I am with her everyday and can see what she does. They thought the full leg support would be best for her. Since we got them - she at first did not like them and then would tolerate them for therapy. She wears them now more but still you can just see in how she takes her steps. She is so stiff and does not have enough movement. It is almost holding her back, the plain shoes are not enough and the AFO's are too Much. So today we had an appt with the NEURO Pedes team. I expressed my thoughts and she said well have them cut them down. We got right in to Mary Free Bed today for her to get them trimmed down to just her ankles. I don't think I took a picture of them before but now they are just supporting that ankle. So she Wore them ALL DAY and still can do everything she wants to do. The big test for me was to see her walk in them. So we did outside tonite - I posted a video below and it is AWESOME!!!!! I wish I had pushed for what i wanted sooner. Who knows maybe she needed it to be hard in the beginning so that now its more effortless. To late now all that matters is she is so close to getting up and running from me I can feel it. I am so happy but at the same time Its sad -she is growing up. Way too fast!! I can't believe she will be 4 in September. I think of it often how time slips away and I try to cherish these moments with her because lord knows she won't be like this for long. As I mentioned before she is really taking off with her speech and verbal communication. A few Mallism's - she says "NO NOT" when she means no its not or no I'm not. Its really cute. She still calls Steve Steve when he won't respond to Daddy. Then she says "its not Steve" and laughs!! Night All :)
